It depends on the noise. A high-pitched squealing during the cycle almost always means a worn drive belt — still running but close to snapping, which will stop the machine mid-cycle. A thumping that starts after a few minutes usually points to worn drum support glides. A grinding or scraping noise is more urgent and typically means the drum bearing has seized. In all cases the fault will not resolve itself — switch the machine off and call us before it fails completely.
