It depends on the noise. A humming or buzzing during the wash cycle that is louder than usual often points to a failing wash pump motor — the machine still runs but washing performance will drop. A rattling during the spray phase is almost always something caught in the spray arm. A grinding at the start or end of a cycle typically means the drain pump is struggling, often due to debris in the filter. None of these require switching off immediately, but they are worth diagnosing before the fault progresses.
